Anledningen till CD-titeln svenska ballader är att det är första gången som Roberto skrivit sånger på svenska. Svenska är inte hans naturliga språk men sedan Roberto González kom till Sverige lärde han sig inte bara språket utan upptäckte också den svenska viskonsten. Det är också ett högst medvetet val att använda svenskan som musikspråk. Förutom att det är en gliring till alla svenska artister som ständigt använder det engelska språket, vill Roberto uttrycka det mångfacetterade och flertydiga i ett språk, särskilt som han idag är en riktig söderkis När jag skriver på svenska gör jag ett påstående. Det här är min svenska och därför också en del av dagens svenska, liksom alla andras svenska som bor här idag. Robertos texter är flerbottnade; varje gång du lyssnar till hans ord hittar du nya ingångar, irrgångar, ordvitsar och lekar med företeelser, förväntningar och fördomar. Lärorikt! En betraktande nutida Bellman på ett Södermalm av idag.
