The wooden base (which personally I think is essential) was damaged and not a great fit, but the damaged area was not visible with the helmet in place. The helmet itself is a significant size so you need a reasonable space to show it off to the best effect. Overall it looks terrific, really impressive and has pride of place on my boat.
