Welcome to Triple Play 2001 for the Nintendo Game Boy Color. Plug the pak into your handheld and head out onto the virtual diamond for some baseball fun. All the National League and American League teams are here, including their All Star squads, and all the real players and their statistics from the 1999 season are represented. Choose one of three difficulty levels and select a Single Game or a Home Run Derby. In the latter, you choose a slugger and try to hit as many home runs as you can before getting ten outs; anything other than a home run is an out, so make every pitch count. If you can hit more homers than your opponent, you'll move on to the next round. From there, you'll keep going until you reach the final round and hopefully become the home run king. In a single game, you can play against the computer or have the computer play itself. Choose any two teams and select a stadium from all the real Major League Baseball parks. You can play as few as one and as many as nine innings. If you want to see how fast your pitchers are throwing, you can turn on the radar gun, and if you think you need some help in the field, just activate the fielding assistance option and let the computer move your players into position to make outs. When you pitch, you can try to throw a slow ball, a fastball, or curves which break left or right. You can also try to pick off any runners who are taking too big of a lead. When you bat, you can position yourself where you like in the batter's box and swing for the fences or try to hit a grounder. On the basepaths, you can always try to steal the next bag or try to turn a long hit into a double or a triple. During the game you can replace your pitcher or insert a pinch hitter, and you can always check out the other team's statistics to see who you should be wary of in their lineup. And don't forget to sing along with "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" when the seventh inning stretch arrives!
