Product Information
A Hoboken native and one of the world's first photographic artists, Alfred Steiglitz was one of the 20th century's best and most influential artists. Stieglitz was one of the first photographers to push the medium to its limits, when, in the late 1800s, he began making photographs at night as well as photographing snow and rain, all of which had been long thought to be technically impossible. Later, he formed the Photo Secession Group, a society of photographers dedicated to promoting photography as an art, and established the famous gallery known as 291 that launched the career of many artists. Steiglitz's greatest work came after this, when he began to concentrate on photography once again, a period that saw him produce his most famous works: studies of his wife, Georgia O'Keefe. This documentary is a look at the life and achievements of Stieglitz, who has become known as the "Father of Modern Photography."Product Identifiers
