Unlock your inner mastermind on the Xbox One console for the first time with Payday 2: Crimewave Edition by Overkill Software. Released two years after the original edition on PC, this 2015 first-person stealth shooter game focuses on four pseudonymous criminals: Dallas, Wolf, Houston, and Chains. Under the orders of Crime.net owner Bain, players complete heists for a variety of big-time crime lords. To conceal the identities of the criminals, the core group dons clown masks, earning their name as the Payday Clowns. Although the story mainly follows these four robbers, you can play as several additional characters introduced through downloadable content.Like real-life bank robbers, the Payday Clowns don't want to get caught in their robbing games. Most in-game heists include a stealth option, allowing you to try sneaking past police and bystanders while completing your objectives. Tripping an alarm or being seen triggers alarms, turning a stealth mission into a violent stand-off against waves of cops. Taking too much damage incapacitates a player, rendering them unable to continue unless another character picks them back up. If all four robbers become incapacitated at once, however, the mission fails. Fortunately, even characters controlled by AI will come to your rescue in a pinch. On the Xbox One version, Payday 2 allows you to customize your skills among various talent trees. The more points placed in a single tree, the more specialized and improved your character will become. These talent trees allow you to fine-tune your abilities based on your best role, like drilling or quietly sneaking. The Xbox version also comes with all the downloadable content released as of June 2015, which introduces both new levels and characters. In addition to new characters, the copy for consoles includes a hefty amount of new weapons to blast enemies with.In Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, you never have to take on the responsibility of a whole heist on your own. Playing alone grants access to three AI bots to take control of the other Clowns and watch your back. However, getting three friends to co-op games greatly improves your chances of succeeding; that's because, unlike the AI, your friends can pick up essential items and help complete game objectives. On higher difficulties, this can easily mean the difference between failure and getting away with millions to put in your off-shore account. As with other first-person games, you can hop online to join random players and help out in their heists. Payday 2: Crimewave Edition truly takes advantage of the Xbox One game hardware, revealing beautiful graphics and well-recorded audio. It's easy to hear the witty jokes between the Clowns, referencing the plots from across both games in the series. Most of this banter will amuse even newcomers to the series. If you're a fan of action-packed first-person stealth shooter games developed by Overkill Software, you'll feel totally immersed while playing Payday 2: Crimewave Edition. Because all of the DLC is included in the package, Xbox users won't miss out on anything by choosing this platform game.
