Synopsis
In the 1560's and the 1570's, several authors outside of Spain recorded the text of an oath supposedly uttered by the Aragonese people when they received their king. While most modern historians doubt the authenticity of the oath, they agree that it has frequently served the purposes of political propaganda whenever an Aragonese patriot has wished to epitomize his nation's tradition of resistance to tyranny. This book studies the oath "We, who are worth as much as you, take you as our king, provided that you preserve our laws and liberties, and if not, not" as an example of historiographical fiction which belongs to a complex of legal-historical legends about the origins of Aragon. Originally published in 1968. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905., In the 1560's and the 1570's, several authors outside of Spain recorded the text of an oath supposedly uttered by the Aragonese people when they received their king. - u***u (674)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoCarefully packaged book- arrived wrapped in plastic bag and shipped in cardboard box. As a frequent book buyer I appreciate this as so many books are just crammed into a plastic shopping bag and sent on their way- sometimes always hanging out of the bag. I know that Midtown Book Seller books will arrive as described. Shipped promptly. I’d highly recommend them as a seller.
- c***i (102)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoBook was in very good condition as described in the listing. It looked almost new, in fact, but the pages did have some yellowing around the edges, a sign of its age. The seller did an excellent job of wrapping and packing the book for shipment, which I greatly appreciate! He has earned his 100% feedback rating, I'd say. I'm extremely pleased with the seller and this transaction. Thank you!
- i***t (265)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoStaff were excellent communicators and gave top notch customer service to ensure correct copy sent from overseas. Postage reasonable against other US booksellers (most now charging inflated post-covid rates) & for a heavy book. Even had tracking! Book arrived immaculately packed, still partly in shrink wrap and new (small marks only)- purchase exceeded all expectations (especially happy considering a $$$ art book). Highly recommend this seller 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Cynthia Daignault: Light Atlas (GREGORY R. MILL), Campany, David,Nemerov, Alexan (N° 375563703219)
