A thoroughly enjoyable read from the opening image of a deep sea diver crawling up onto a frozen beach to the closing images of titanic god-monsters striding the earth. The star of the story (for me, anyway) is a giant multi-eyed spider who, without a single line of dialogue, nevertheless endeared himself to this reader.
