Product Information
This edition has been revised in view of current developments in pharmacology and therapeutics. More use has been made of tables and diagrams when discussing groups of drugs, and more information is given on the modes of action. A few older drugs have been retained where their use of interest warrants, but the emphasis is on modern drugs in current use, including new antibiotics and other antimicrobial agents, angiotenin-convertning-enzyme inhibitors, calcium-channel blocking agents, new drugs for hyperlipidaemia and new peptic ulcer healing drugs and highly specialized drugs such as dantrolene for malignant hyperthermia and digibind, a new treatment for digoxin overdose. Tables of drugs in breast milk and of oral contraceptives have also been included in this edition and a new appendix refers to those Latin abbreviations still used in prescriptions. The work is suitable for student and pupil nurses; other health care students and pharmacy students.
