Synopsis
Walker Evans's career spread over 46 fitful and prolific years, yet in a scant two, 1935-1936, he produced the singular body of work that came to define him. During that brief time, while working for the Farm Security Administration (previously the U.S. Resettlement Administration) photographing the consequences of the Great Depression, he refined a hybrid style that combined documentation with sly personal comment. He delighted in traveling incognito as an artless photojournalist, but with the independence to satisfy his own artistic designs. "Walker Evans: Lyric Documentary" presents these seminal images for the first time as a comprehensive, cohesive body of work, in chronological order. These are prime examples of Evans's alchemy, his seemingly effortless transformation of mundane fact into sweeping lyricism. They not only define his mature style, but also offer a path for artists of future generations. Evans has been called the most important American artist of his century, and the impact of his vision reaches well beyond the province of photography. With texts by John T. An unusual thing happened with this purchase - I received something different than pictured - however, is is every bit as beautiful as what I had chosen. Comparable in price, it was still a great value. I contacted the seller to let them know what had happened -so they could keep up with their inventory. It arrived in perfect condition, it was packed carefully to avoid breakage in shipping. It was sent in a timely fashion too. Seller made it right and I'm thrilled with my purchase. A+++ seller!

The shipping was super fast! I order it from the West Coast and it was here before I knew it! Packaged individually, wrapped safely, as described. Great experience! Great Value! I will be ordering again, just based on the positive experience I had with this online seller!

Great communication, sanafu with USPS slowed my delivery but Caroll's Sundries kept in touch & it was only 1 day later than expected, & it got resolved. I will admit that I thought the shipping was a little high, but when I saw how well it was packaged & the delivery person left it in the rain on my sidewalk yet the interior was bone dry. I will definitely shop with them again.
