I am assuming that this is because the glaze is inside is inadequate/porous. The seller said that as I've had it for over a month, and it's been used, they can't do anything. Oddly enough, using it like a tea cup is the reason that it is stained! If you want one of these, to actually use as a mug, buy one from somewhere else as it may be fit for purpose, I like this one!
