Reviews
"In this book Clifford and White explore, in an accessible manner, the complexities of the relationship between crime, the media and justice. It offers a systematic, though by no means simplistic, analysis of this relationship, insisting that doing this demands both reflexivity and a willingness to expose and challenge the existing blind spots in media criminology. In so doing, this book establishes a coherent agenda for this area of analysis which not only fulfils its aims but also ensures that it will make a major contribution to the fi eld. It is a must-read for all those making claims on this increasingly important intellectual space. You will not be disappointed by the challenges you will face in reading it.For this reason alone I highly recommend it. "- Sandra Walklate, Eleanor Rathbone Chair of Sociology, University of Liverpool, and conjoint Professor of Criminology, Monash University."Clifford and White's Media and Crime is a breakthrough book.It ranges across the ever-morphing mediascape in which contemporary crime and justice are embedded, exploring case studies from across the globe, and mixing theoretical and analytic sophistication with a keen eye for praxis. Just as importantly, the book moves beyond the disciplinary provincialism that oft en entraps analyses of media and crime to achieve an important, innovative synthesis: sociological and criminological perspectives integrated with those offered by journalistic and media studies. In this way Clifford and White's book not only maps the contours of contemporary media and crime; it writes a new map for their future study."- Jeff Ferrell, Professor of Sociology, Texas Christian University, and Visiting Professor of Criminology, University of Kent"This is a fascinating book about the 'media-crime nexus'. As such, this is a greatly informative text that reminds us how much the media frame, inform and overshadow our everyday lives. But much more than this, the book illuminates the worlds of meaning that contemporary media present us with--whether truths or untruths, nuance or diktat. Making sense of media has never been more important and this book is an invaluable aid."- Nigel South, Professor of Sociology, University of Essex

Synopsis
In Media and Crime: Content, Context, and Consequence, authors Katrina Clifford and Rob White combine the skills and expertise of journalism and media studies with criminological knowledge to critically interrogate the nexus between the media and crime and the links between process, practice, and representation. It addresses media in its traditional and emerging forms and explores the ways in which police, courts, and different groups engage with mediated representations of crime, risk, fear, and vulnerability. The authors also investigate the role that media plays in shaping perceptions of crime and criminality, and how media-framing occurs in relation to debates about criminal justice and responses to crime., Media and Crime offers a new and innovative approach by combining the skills and expertise of journalism and media studies with criminological knowledge to critically interrogate the nexus between the media and crime, and the linkages between process, practice and representation., Public knowledge of crime and criminal justice often develops through the media to the extent that, for some people, the media may be their sole source of information on these issues and systems. The role that the media plays in shaping public perceptions of crime and criminality, and framing debates about criminal justice and responses to crime, is therefore undeniable. For these reasons, questions of media influence have become a prominent aspect of criminological theorising and inquiry. Media and Crime offers a new and innovative approach to these debates and analysis by combining the skills and expertise of journalism and media studies with criminological knowledge to critically interrogate the nexus between the media and crime, and the linkages between process, practice and representation. Wide-ranging in subject matter, and international in scope, it provides a theoretically informed analysis of media constructions of crime, criminality and criminal justice. Media and Crime will be of interest to scholars, practitioners and students of journalism, media studies, criminology, sociology, and the general reader.

- 9***g (561)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoShipped quickly, over all packaging was done well, was as described except it didn't have the plug adapter. Contacted seller and was told I received everything in the photo, this was true... But I didn't know it needed a adapter so how would I know it wasn't included. Could have put that info in description! So Value was a bit lacking! (seller was also a bit harsh in his replies)1Mii B03 Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver In Black For TV Home Stereo Headphone* (N° 296909307150)
- s***0 (309)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoNot quite sure how to put this. SELLER IS HONEST! But this poor old Bible decided to come apart at the seams just at the moment of packing it up! Seller immediately messaged, refunded and apologized almost in the same breath - but I really don't need the apology as the message/refund were enough for me. I understand 60-year old books do weird things sometimes and description even said it was on the rough side and price reflected that. So even though this oopsie happened I'd use seller again!Vintage The Jerusalem Bible 1966 Special Edition Hardcover Book By Doubleday (N° 296989460333)
- m***m (2)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoThe LEGO was in pretty much the exact condition as shown and even arrived early, wrapped in bubble wrap! All the pieces are of good quality, and everything looks great. My only concern is that 2/3 minifigures did not come with their jetpacks, but the seller said that it was an accident. Other than that, it was a great purchase, and I would recommend this seller to others 👍.
