An LED on the right-hand side shows when connected (red) and in use (purple) but it's only visible if you peer round the side. The cable is generous at 1.7m and a strain relief grommet prevents damage while moving the cam around. Picture quality is surprisingly good even in poor light, but the sound level seems quite low from the built-in (mono) mic.
