Reissue of this 2002 four CD box set. On Thanksgiving Day 1976, The Band (Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Hudson, Richard Manuel, and Robertson) took the stage for the very last time at the Winterland Theatre in San Francisco for the Last Waltz, which has gone on to become one of the most heralded performances of all time. Joining The Band on stage throughout the evening was an unprecedented group of pioneers in music including Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, and Neil Young, among others. This is a neat way to own this incredible compendium of work from some of the most legendary songwriters of our time.

Robbie Robertson ads material that wouldn't fit on the original 3-Record set, and remasters the entirety of this release. Vocals seem a bit more separated, and there is more crowd response at the beginning and end of songs. There's remixing, bringing some vocals or instrumentals up front, or moving them to the back. The new mix is worth hearing, and much of the previously unreleased music is great. As great as it was in the Summer of '78? You decide.

As this is a special bi-fold case, replacing the cover isn't going to happen. Perhaps a more robust packing method would protect sensitive materials like this especially in the cold Northern climates here. Shipping itself was fine and the overall transaction was a good experience.
