My pump is connected to a water tank at the same height as the pump so the pump draws water from the tank.. I contacted the seller, Katherine who was very helpful and explained that the switch will be off at zero pressure. So if the only pressure is that supplied by the pump it will not turn on. I assume it's intended use is where the pump is used to boost mains pressure so there is always pressure in the system.
