SPIRIT IN THE ROOM, recently chosen by the Sunday Times as one of the best 100 albums of the year, is a powerful follow-up to his 2010 release Praise and Blame, which scanned 52,000 on Lost Highway. This album reveals a Tom Jones unlike you've ever heard before: rootsy, bluesy, bold, and raw. Produced by Ethan Johns, (Brits Producer of the Year for 2011) SPIRIT IN THE ROOM has a pared-down, pure Americana sound, bringing together songs by contemporary writers such as Tom Waits, Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen, Paul McCartney and Richard Thompson, as well as older material by Odetta and Blind Willie Johnson. Ethan Johns, was at the helm for Jones acclaimed PRAISE & BLAME. The album was recorded live at Real World Studios in Bath, (owned by Peter Gabriel) and beautifully captures the intimacy and immediacy of the live performances. In addition to producer/multi-instrumentalist Johns, the band features Richard Causon on piano and vintage keyboards, Ian Jennings and Sam Dixon on bass, and drummer Stella Mozgawa. Jones is planning to tour the United States in April and May. Dates will be announced shortly.
