It will require padding on the non-friction side. Friction is not sufficient even with maximum thickness and padding. It's just not a strong enough design to beat the torque from the accelerator cables. The GoCruise2 is much stronger and out of the way (not hurting the thumb knuckle..

Tried it on my DL1000, that didn't work due to ridges on the handgrip cover. However it fit perfectly on my DL650 VStrom. Works well, giving my hands a rest when on longer rides.

Works great and super easy to install, with easier instructions for how to set up and if you cut the bumper pads in half it fits perfectly to the shim and gives you two of each pad.
