The way the cord is attached inside allows the knot to foul when you pull for operation. See photo. I put the cord in from the bottom and made a knot on top. Works perfectly. The second design fault is when you use the fan as a ceiling fan. The sharp edge where the cord runs will soon fray the cord. I used a stanley knife blade the round the edge. I had to but new cord too short supplied
