In Florida, we don t have gravel, but we do have sharp coral and mud. It performs well in the ocean and rivers. I ve abused this scoop and it takes a beating... No buckling, warping or dents. I purchased a wooden handle at Home Depot an attached with the enclosed U-bolts. The way the scoop is made allows it to cut through all the mud and coral perfectly! Best long handled scoop I ve use in 25 years! Thanks
