Additionally the condenser lead from the distributor was far too short to reach the coil and I was forced to purchase a separate condenser with a longer lead that actually reached the coil and install that instead. There appears to be a defect with the distributor cap which causes a misfire of the electrical spark over one lead. Still needs checking.
