In the M12 RedLithium, Milwaukee has created a rechargeable battery pack that works as hard as its tools. These packs are designed to fit with any M12 Fuel tools and accessories that Milwaukee makes. They feature technology from their staff of MIT-educated power cell experts, which makes them work longer and harder, keep a smarter charge, and work in extreme temperatures. In 2011, Milwaukee moved from using NiCad 12V rechargeable battery packs to lithium-ion batteries. While NiCad batteries are known to be simple cells, lithium batteries come with advanced "smart" electronic systems. These systems prevent the battery from being overcharged by current from chargers or overloaded by the demand from power tools. RedLithium cells also come with an easily visible indicator that can show you how much battery life is left. You can check the level easily while they are attached to hand tools or chargers. In comparison with the 12-volt NiCad model that came before, Milwaukee RedLithium batteries offer many upgrades. You get 40% more run time, 20% more power, speed, and torque, and fade-free power that remains even throughout the entire charge. It can work in temperatures that are 20% cooler than before, offers 50% more recharges throughout the life of the battery, and does not have the memory effect problem of NiCads. In comparison with standard lithium-ion batteries, it offers 20% more run time, 20% more speed and torque, and twice as many recharge cycles throughout the life capacity of the cell. This durable and compact Milwaukee battery can perform in cold weather conditions down to zero degrees Fahrenheit. They are water-resistant to splashing when attached to a tool. At 6.5 by 4.4 by 4.3 inches and 1.1 pounds, it is compact and light. It offers 2.0 AMP hours of run time. The amount of actual time that you can run the battery will depend on the power demand of the specific type of power tool you are using. When placed on a Milwaukee charger, these battery packs can be fully recharged in less than an hour. There is a smart trickle charge function between these chargers and power cells. Because of this, the charger can be used as storage for your power cells without concern for battery life or performance. Milwaukee has a series of M12 cordless tools and M12 Fuel equipment that are compatible with this 12V battery pack. It is strong enough to power a series of cordless impact drivers, drill drivers, circular saws, rotary hammers, and impact wrenches. There are at least two dozen cordless tools and accessories made by Milwaukee that can run on M12 RedLithium battery power. The compact size of these RedLithium packs fits easily into the handle of the cordless M12 tool of your choice. They are small enough to pack into a tool belt and switch out on long days. Extra power cells make great accessories for woodworkers and handymen who have a large collection of Milwaukee M12 tools.
