The basket hilt is chrome plated (was hard to tell from pics), so most likely 20th century, not 1800s as suggested. Seller shipped very quickly and well packed. I've decided to clean and mount the basket hilt on a new made blade and use it as a display piece. Overall a good experience, although I wish the seller had provided more description.

Secondly the Postage & Packaging costs were very expensive for such a small item and should have been reduced in price. Having said all that the item was in good condition and it arrived in a timely manner undamaged.
