NotesBesides introducing Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh to the jazz world, Tristano introduced a unique approach to improvisation based on the work of Lester Young. Described as "both hot and cool at once," Intuition and Digression (held back at the time) were the first complete free form improvisations in jazz. Added to this historic session is a quintet date that Marsh made for Imperial in '56 titled Jazz of Two Cities. With both mono and stereo versions, all 76 minutes of music are released on CD for the first time.
