Slammin' Sammy Sosa endorses his second baseball game for publisher 3DO, this time leaving the pro stadiums behind for casual play on sandlots and parks. Softball Slam is an arcade-style take on the recreational sport, featuring a mix of all-male, all-female, and co-ed leagues. Batting involves tapping one of three keys as the ball crosses the plate. On the mound, you'll select an underhand pitch speed (quick or normal) and whether the throw is a strike or a ball. There are no steals in Softball Slam, fielding can be manual or automatic, and games span seven innings instead of nine. The over-the-top atmosphere includes taunts, strong throws bursting into flames, wacky errors, and a wildly enthusiastic announcer. Compete in a tournament or an exhibition game with your choice of existing teams or custom squads created with the built-in editor.
