Might have happened during shipping since the shoes were only in a poly bag. Other packages may have crushed or scraped into the shoes causing the damage. Since the gouge out is small and on the top of the shoe, it won't affect the comfort. Overall, the shoes seem to be good quality & are as those pictured/described in the listing. I feel that the price was good, so I do recommend this seller.

Contacted, the seller told us that we could open the box and return the item if we were not satisfied with it. Items were brand new and are working great so far. If you do not mind the packaging condition, I recommend this seller.
