Product Information
Designed for touring musicians and audiovisual integration techs, the Radial JDI Duplex is a high-functioning stereo passive Direct Input, or DI, machine. The unit is designed for high-output sources. The Duplex offers quarter-inch connectors and can be used for -10 decibels consumer electronics. It is also used with XLR inputs for plus-4 decibels pro-level line sources. Thanks to the Jensen transformer made famous in the standard Radial JDI direct box, each channel has a warm tone virtually free of distortion. This unit employs a pair of these Jensen products and offers the same pristine audio signal path. It offers a fantastic signal path that has almost no distortion. A smooth curve combined with the Jensen's saturation makes the Duplex a great choice for tricky instruments with dynamic exports, such as digital keyboards. The DI can eliminate harsh sounds caused by tricky output when amplified. These boxes also isolate the transformer in order to eliminate ground loops. This prevents interference that can cause unwanted feedback noise or disrupt visual display signals. The DI works seamlessly whether outputs go to amps, mixers, mic accessories, or any other type of recording equipment. Radial's JDI bookend-style unit provides additional protection to the connection panels. The design shields them during the typical moves that come with studio and stage use. An inner frame consisting of a welded I-beam eliminates outside stresses. This prevents torque to the PC board, premature solder point failure, and trace failure. The Duplex has a chassis made from 14-gauge steel combined with a metal shield against transformers made by MuMETAL. This helps to block stray magnetic interference caused by power transformers in nearby audio equipment or lighting systems. The full-feature stereo passive direct box can enhance connectivity, reduce noise, and simplify your hectic life. This is true for the touring professional, AV integrator, or broadcast engineer. It is simple to install and delivers high-quality, balanced sound. The unit requires no formatting, and it has true plug-and-play functionality. The box offers excellent handling of signals. There is almost no phase shift or harmonic distortion, and it remains linear across the hearing spectrum from 10 to 80 kilohertz. When driven to extremes, the saturation and the warm Bessel curve that result offer distortion-free audio for items with high impedance. This is true for an instrument like a keyboard. It would also support distortion-free audio for a drum machine, guitar, microphone, and other instruments and devices. This DI has a wide variety of cable connection options. There are quarter-inch connectors and RCA connectors as well as a 3.5mm TRS that connects to unbalanced -10 decibel consumer electronics. There are also XLR inputs that connect to professional line sources at plus-4 decibels. There is a stereo summed-to-mono switch for each channel. This allows you to provide individualized and feedback-free settings for two instruments, microphones, accessories, or stock sound engineering components at a time. Weighing only 3.2 pounds and featuring overall dimensions of 8.2 by 6 by 3.2 inches, this is a light and compact DI. The unit is known to be a very durable piece of pro audio gear. It can stand up to a life on the road and a different venue every night. A no-slip pad that covers the entire bottom works double-duty by also providing electrical and mechanical isolation.
