For a high-value item, it should never have been described as near mint–mint. I raised this with the seller, but they declined to communicate further. It’s disappointing to come across sellers like this in the hobby. Trust and integrity are important, but unfortunately, this interaction showed little of either. This behaviour reflects poorly on your integrity as a seller and as a person. Life has a way of balancing these things out in time. Good luck to you.
