However, within 24 hours of me filing a claim, the seller responded, and the item showed up in USPS tracking system a state or two away from the seller, so the error may have been on the postal services end.

What's not to like? It also had the most shipping damage-proof packaging I've ever seen! (The only way it could be damaged in shipping is if the mail truck ran over it!)
