I did not request cancellation and had paid for the items promptly-- I really wanted them. Contacting the seller after the cancellation notice, they told me that they accidentally listed more of the items than they had, but didn't feel that they should take eBay's consequences for their own mistake and thus told eBay that I had cancelled the order.
