I ignored it and the pain was a problem when wearing sneakers for several years. This big toe separator is helping relieve the pain and over time correcting the inward toe. I found it better by slipping it over the big toe and pushing into the second toe. My pain is gone after 2 days. I keep it on 24 hours. I can now wiggle my big toe.
