I know landmarks around the lake, so most times it's just a convenience, but a couple of weeks ago, due to the Canadian wildfires, you couldn't see all the way across the lake. Visibility was about a mile, so I wasn't lost, but glad I had my Garmin. I recently bought 2 used Sea Doos, so I instantly wanted to buy a smaller unit for at least one of them. This was the best price
