It is basically felt-covered cardboard which I suspect will hold-up for a few years, like the others I purchased. The cover comes with a hard shell to snap-in the screen so nothing hindering the view. The stand rotates for vertical or horizontal use plus the colors to choose from was a bonus. A slight negative is the shallow tray the screen sits in; a possibility of sliding esp if you are moving.
