The Climb of My Life is a powerful journey into the physical and emotional mysteries of the human heart. Kelly's story reminds us of the unexpected surprises that may lie around the next bend and the qualities we need to reach our own summits., She's become a transplant activist, climbing the world's most famous mountains to demonstrate the importance of organ donation. In 2001, she became the first heart transplant to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro; in 2003, she repeated that feat on Mt. Fuji-hoping that her ascent 'might in some way lift the country's cultural veil and brighten the future.', Perkins's engaging tale provides valuable inspiration for others struggling to return to an active life after a dire illness., A gripping story. The Climb of My Life highlights the great progress that has occurred over four decades of heart transplants. Many will enjoy this book, particularly patients, relatives, and friends who are experiencing the ravages of heart disease "giving them hope., Even readers who aren't mountaineers will get caught up in Perkins's story and find themselves cheering her on and sharing in her triumph when she summits the seemingly insurmountable peaks., The Climb of My Life demonstrates Kelly's ability to prevail in the face of adversity, whether it be a howling blizzard or a critical care operating room., Given a second chance on life, Kelly refuses to allow a heart transplant to stop her from living an extraordinary life full of challenging adventures around the world. Her story exemplifies what it means to live every day with purpose and heart., Kelly Perkins has chosen to share her remarkable story with the world through The Climb of My Life: Scaling Mountains with a Borrowed Heart. Synopsis
When Kelly Perkins learned she needed a heart transplant at the age of 30, she thought the active healthy life she loved was over. From the brink of death to the summit of Mt. Fuji, Kelly, with the support of her husband Craig, not only survived the transplant surgery, but became the first heart transplant patient to summit some of the world's most recognized peaks. The Climb of My Life tells the story of Kelly's transplant, recovery, and ascents up such mountains as Mt. Kilimanjaro-all on a borrowed heart.

- e***- (122)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoUnfortunately I received a damaged book, the item and the package both were damaged and it was clearly evident its appearance that it happened during transit. The seller was very understanding and gave me a full refund for the damaged book, though it was no fault of their own. Other than the damage, the book was as described, the quality and condition aside from the damaged spot was like new. The cost of the book was reasonable. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.
- v***v (2101)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoAlthough this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate. How to chalk talk, by Harlan Tarbell (N° 197064259889)
