It is self switching in real time and has indicator lights top let you know when it's busy. Once i installed the drivers for forscan it immediately pickedup to my cars. It was inexpensive top boot. it shopped really fast. It was brand new and it's bidirectional . Iwas able to scan, test, write to, diagnose and clear codes with this flawlessly. I am very happy with my purchase & the seller
