Synopsis
Feather, the easily muddled Muse of Plants, is confused when he runs beak-first into young Emma. Emma, you see, is a Human and NO HUMANS ARE ALLOWED in Kokonino County, home to Feather and the rest of the New Muses. Emma wants the Muses to help rescue her teacher, Mrs. Krishnamurti, from the evil (and rather doughy) clutches of her wicked foster father, Mr. Drinkwater. A helpful Muse, Feather would normally love to lend a wing. Unfortunately, Emma has arrived during the Great Pie War, a time when any sudden moves could result in getting a smart pie full in the face. You see, the Great Pie War has escalated from Smart Pies to Smarter Pies to SMARTEST PIES - giant, state-of-the-art, satellite-guided pies. POP SPLAT Will the war reach its messy conclusion in time for Feather and the other Muses to help Emma? Or will the trickster Muse Kokopelli sabotage everything?, Hoping to escape her evil, doughy foster father, Emma Drinkwater sneaks into Kokonino County, the human-free home of the New Muses. She quickly finds herself embroiled in the Great Pie War launched by Kokopelli, flute-playing Muse of Tunes and Tricks, against Urania, the high-minded Muse of Astronomy. The stakes are high: Mr. Drinkwater is holding Emma's teacher hostage in the cellar while he attempts to decode a secret message involving Emma's real parents. The Muses could help, but not while they're distracted by flying pies, which are rapidly escalating from Smart Pies to Smarter Pies to SMARTEST PIES -- state-of-the-art, satellite-guided pies hurtling through the air, zeroing in with greater and greater accuracy as the Great Pie War crumbles to a messy conclusion. Gonick's alternate universe is crammed with off-the-wall characters and sly, smart humor, along with plenty of spot illustrations to help reluctant young readers make the transition from graphic novels to narrative fiction., Feather, the easily muddled Muse of Plants, is confused when he runs beak-first into young Emma. - v***v (2075)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoAlthough this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate.
- 2***j (113)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoI've ordered several items from this vendor now and they've always been what they were advertised as. This was no exception. Both discs were in great shape as well as their jewel cases. Delivery is good, packaging is simple but effective for what you're paying and I haven't had any get damaged. Will keep buying from this vendor because of the results so far and good prices, too.
