It seems to clip in and out pretty well. I use a Fuji mirrorless so perhaps smaller than some DSLRs. The button location means you use two hands to get the camera off which for me would be good practice but some may find it annoying. The lock wheel secures it in place really solidly so you can't knock it off by mistake.
