Product Information
This book explores the experience of driving cars as a way of encountering landscapes and cities around the world. A richly illustrated cultural history, drawing on social and urban history, art, literature and music, Drive explores in particular how car driving is portrayed in cinema and other moving images, from America to Europe and Asia, and from Hollywood to the avant-garde. Drive is about dynamic journeys, experiences and speeds, rooted in specific places and roads, and expanded into the realm of cinema, art and video games. It moves from the gentle deserts of The Grapes of Wrath to the adventurous city streets of The Italian Job, from the aesthetic delights of Rain Man and Traffic to the existential musings of Two-Lane Blacktop, Thelma and Louise and Vanishing Point, from the contemplative freeway pleasures of Lift to the Scaffold, Radio On and London Orbital to the hallucinatory high-speed dangers of Crash, Bullitt, Death Proof and C'etait un Rendezvous. It shows how various kinds of driving - with different speeds, cars, attitudes, roads and cities - provide experiences and values that we igre at our peril. Written by a leading urban and cultural historian, Drive's conclusion is a timely riposte to commonplace anti-car attitudes.

- 7***0 (290)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoI enquired about to estimate arrival of my book that I purchased, the seller replied quite fast, (good communication). Two days after the inquiry the item arrived. The book is second hand as described in good condition. The package arrived in a package to help reduced water damage, however some of the packaging broke due to shipping, perhaps a stronger package might work better. I recommend this seller, and I will definitely be repurchasing books from the seller again in the future. 😌International Law: Cases and Materials with Australian Perspecti (N° 205321678500)
- i***a (73)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoExcellent transaction with this seller. The item was well wrapped, dispatched and represented amazing value. The postage from England was cheaper than items posted nearby. Communication was excellent and all round a great experience. Would definitely do business with this seller again. Thank you.
- 4***7 (6)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoThe book arrived on time, and the packaging looked perfect, so I was a bit thrown when I opened it to find water damage. No clue what happened, but I suspect it had a little adventure before being repacked. I contacted the seller with photos, and they responded promptly with an apology and a full refund. No excuses, just great customer service. Things happen, but this seller handled it brilliantly. Honest, quick, and classy. I'd happily buy from them againPhotowisdom: Master Photographers on Their Air, Lewis Blackwell, (N° 383465345003)
