I had to create a make shift bearing press of sorts with a C-Clamp to seat the gear, and then fniish driving it home with a soft mallet to fully seat the gear. Happy ending- Sharpener works great once again.

However, with a bit of filing using a Dremel to slightly widen the shaft opening it seems to work well enough. I can keep using my father's 40 year old bit of history. I did notice that the two parts (2 pack of 'identical' gears) were not exactly the same. One had much more apparent filament lines. The shipping was fast and reasonably packaged. The price was good.

I will say I’m impressed on how these are made but the detail in the gears where not as refined as needed. I had to take a file an manually recut each gear out so it would connect to my drive gear properly. Didn’t take much effort just some time. End results my machine is working again.
