So stellt sich bei der Auseinandersetzung mit der Figurenkonstitution folgende Frage: Was kennzeichnet, situationsbezogen, Figuren als Helden, was als Gegner? Im Folgenden soll genau diese Frage aufgegriffen und beantworten werden. Dabei wird untersucht, wie Helden untereinander zu Gegnern werden, ungeachtet ihrer Wesensart. Dafur wurde zum einen der erste Teil des Epos ausgewahlt, in dem Siegfried als Held und Hagen als Gegner untersucht werden soll. Bei der Betrachtung des zweiten Teils wird von Hagen als Helden und Kriemhild als Gegnerin ausgegangen. Das Ziel ist demnach, wahrend der Beschreibung und Erlauterung Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede festzustellen. Der Grund fur die Wahl dieses Untersuchungsgegenstandes liegt darin begrundet, dass sich die typischen Merkmale, die einem Helden, beziehungsweise einem Gegner, zugeschrieben werden, vor allem in der Darstellung und Entwicklung der Figuren Siegfried, Kriemhild und Hagen untersuchen lassen. Vor allem diesen Figuren stehen unterschiedliche Verhaltensweisen zur Verfugung, List und Tapferkeit, Diplomatie und Kampf, die sie je nach Handlungsnotwendigkeit einsetzen. Gerade dieses grosse Spektrum an Eigenschaften eignet sich besonders gut, um es auf typische Merkmale von Helden und Gegnern anzuwenden. Da im Rahmen dieser Arbeit nur ein kurzer Einblick in die komplexe Figurenkonstitution des Nibelungenliedes moeglich ist, beschrankt sich die Betrachtung und Analyse der Figuren und deren Beziehungen zueinander auf einzelne Eigenschaften, die anhand von ausgewahlten Beispielen a
