Reactievermogensplanning (RPP) is een van de meest complexe problemen van energiesystemen. RPP maakt verstandig gebruik van de bestaande reactieve stroombronnen en plant een geschikte locatie en grootte van de VAR-compensatie die in een systeem moet worden geinstalleerd om te voldoen aan de eisen van toekomstige belastingsverhogingen om een redelijk spanningsprofiel te behouden onder normale omstandigheden en onvoorziene omstandigheden. RPP vereist de gelijktijdige minimalisatie van twee objectieve functies. De eerste doelstelling betreft het minimaliseren van de bedrijfskosten door het verminderen van het werkelijke vermogensverlies en het verbeteren van het spanningsprofiel. In dit boek is de Fast Voltage Stability Index (FVSI) gebruikt om de zwakke bussen te identificeren voor de planning van het reactieve vermogen. Het resultaat bevestigde een significante afname van de systeemverliezen en een verbetering van de spanningsomvang door het gebruik van FVSI. De test en de rechtvaardiging van het voorgestelde algoritme zijn uitgevoerd op het IEEE 30-bussysteem en het 72-bus Indiase systeem.
