Product Information
Richard Burton's life offers dazzling riches. He was one of the greatest Victorian explorers, an innovative translator and brilliant linguist, a prolific travel writer, a pioneer in the fields of anthropology and sexual psychology, a mesmeric lover, a spy and a publisher of erotica. Fawn Brodie has created a vivid portrait of this remarkable man, who emerges from the richly textured fabric of his time. His travels to Mecca and Medina dressed as a Muslim pilgrim, his witnessing of the human sacrifices at Dahomey and his unlikely but loving partnership with his pious Catholic bride are all treated with warmth, scholarship and understanding.

- a***0 (603)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoBook arrived in mint condition and was exactly as described by the seller. Sir Richard Burton was a larger than life Victorian soldier, writer and explorer who would have been more at home in the 20th century rather than his own time. Fawn Brodie's biography is a superb read and I recommend it highly.
- i***l (11)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoThis is my second time buying from this seller and I would definitely place another order in the future. This time I ordered three books and everything went well. The books arrived in great condition, matching the description. As always they are very carefully wrapped. The prices are great and the communication is always very kind and clear.. responses very quickly. Highly recommend this seller.
- e***p (93)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoThis book arrived in good condition and as described and good was good value as were the other books I ordered. Unfortunately the packaging didn't survive Royal Mails handling and this was the only book I received of five I had ordered. I contacted WeBuyBooks and they have been brilliant in trying to resolve the issue of the missing books. They are replacing one that they still have in stock though unfortunately are unable to do so for the other three so are issuing a refund for these.

I have bought from this seller a few times and everything has always met or exceeded my expectations.Eastern Asia and Classical Greece: v. 2 (Illustrated History of the World S.) (N° 156470010509)
