Product Information
Add a special coin to your collection by knowing that it is more than just a penny. The 1920-D BN Lincoln cent is struck from bronze and is one of the original of the series. The first mintage began in 1909 to commemorate the centennial of Lincoln’s birth. The penny replaced the Indian Head first introduced in 1859. The design, by Victor David Brenner, depicts the bust of Abraham Lincoln on its obverse side. The right side of his face is showing, and the word "Liberty" is inscribed at the base of his neck. The motto "In God We Trust" is engraved in uppercase text above his head. Honest Abe is wearing a fine suit, vest, and bow tie, and the penny’s date, 1920, aligns with his breast. Just under the date is the mint mark “D” denoting it was minted in Denver. The coins had originally been minted in San Francisco, but their mintage had been moved. The reverse side features two sweeping stocks of wheat, which is why it’s known as “the Wheat Penny.” Brenner chose durum wheat for the engraving. These wheat ears would be replaced in 1959 by the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. The Wheat Pennies showed wheat stalks surrounded by the words “One Cent” and “United States of America. The motto "E Pluribus Unum" is featured along the top border of the reverse face. All coins struck by the United States government with a value of 0.01 dollars are called cents because the United States mintage has produced coins using decimals. The penny nickname is a carryover from those struck in England, which went to decimals for coins in 1971. A luxury tax was introduced in 1917, which increased the demand for the pennies, as they were needed to make change. The recession year of 1922 saw a lower-than-usual demand for coins in commerce, and few cents were produced. Designed by Victor D. Brenner, the Lincoln cent is the longest-running design in the United States Mint history. Brenner’s design had been picked by 26th U.S. President, Theodore Roosevelt in 1909, who had earlier posed for him in New York. Brenner’s association with his Lincoln penny solidified Brenner’s enduring acclaim as a world-renowned artist, sculptor and engraver. Many patriots had suggested the production of Lincoln half dollars. This Wheat Penny is 19 millimeters in diameter and weighs 3.11 grams. The coin has a plain edge. The cent’s metal is comprised of 95 percent copper and 5 percent tin and zinc. The 1920-D Wheat Penny is a must for anyone interested in "Numismatics" or the art of coin collecting. These pennies are not only a great gift for new collector but also provide value to any already established collection given the variety in grade between pieces. Given their variety, the Lincoln pennies are a great way to learn about how to grade coins, hence, it’s not just valuable as a collector’s item but will provide enrichment and learning for anyone interested in U.S. currencies.

- n***a (927)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoMy coin (1882-S Morgan silver dollar) arrived quickly and was exactly as pictured and described. And it was well packaged. The price was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but I'm fine with it. One minor complaint, I was charged $5.50 for USPS Ground Advantage (that comes with tracking), but it was shipped via 1st Class Mail (no tracking). 🙄 I'm glad it didn't get lost in the mail. 🫣1882 s Morgan Silver Dollar P3 (N° 156776451104)
