"This book is much more than an updated classic in the child maltreatment field. It is an extraordinarily thorough description of the application of TF-CBT to the unique challenges of sexually abused children and youth that is firmly grounded in the most recent epidemiological and clinical research literature. The liberal use of case examples, session transcripts, suggested scripts, and explanations of many clinical tools makes it a practice handbook that will enable new and seasoned therapists to use TF-CBT effectively. This book should be studied by every therapist working with sexually abused children." --Benjamin E. Saunders, PhD, Professor and Associate Director, National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Medical University of South Carolina "The authors offer us a timely, beautifully written guide for clinicians specifically applying TF-CBT to the treatment of children and families who have experienced child sexual abuse and its sequelae. Detailing empiric support with striking clinical wisdom, this book weaves cognitive-behavioral principles, role plays, creative activities, and therapeutic skill to guide evidence-based practice. I expect this book to benefit clinicians at all levels in their careers in their understanding and treatment of child sexual abuse patients for years to come." --Lisa Amaya-Jackson, MD, MPH, UCLA-Duke National Center for Child Traumatic Stress, Duke University School of Medicine "This dedicated group of colleagues just keeps on giving! Thank you for this invaluable gift of your research-supported, resource-rich, and resolutely practical primer on TF-CBT and the treatment of child sexual abuse." --Barbara W. Synopsis
Children who have been sexually abused not only often experience PTSD symptoms as a direct result of the trauma, but also develop unhealthy emotional responses and may engage in age-inappropriate sexual behaviors. In addition, parents also suffer from the trauma and thus are often in need of emotional support and guidance in responding to their children's needs. Based on over 25 years of research supported by grants from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect (NCCAN), and other funding sources, Child Sexual Abuse describes a premier empirically supported treatment approach for children, adolescents, and non-offending parents/caregivers impacted by child sexual abuse. Developed to provide support and to alleviate symptoms and problem behaviors in children and adolescents, trauma-focused CBT for child sexual abuse incorporates treatment components that provide children and their caregivers with education and coping skills training, while simultaneously addressing the trauma. The book describes the nuts and bolts of treatment including trauma narration and processing that helps to alleviate children's distress and feelings of shame associated with the abuse. Parents are also taught effective behavior management skills, and treatment often culminates with a focus on parent-child communication and enhancing safety and future development. This highly effective treatment model can be adapted to be delivered in school-based, residential, home and/or group settings., Based on over 25 years of research, Child Sexual Abuse, Second Edition describes a premier, empirically supported treatment approach for children, adolescents, and non-offending parents/caregivers impacted by child sexual abuse. - _***1 (20)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoThe recent music CD purchase was reasonably priced, order processed without delay & the CD shipped promptly. The song selection & sound quality of this CD are very nice. This seller’s reply to my question via email provided the information I needed in order to make the purchase of this music CD. Overall, I would buy from this seller again. Other seller’s I contacted sent an auto-reply stating they receive too many E-messages therefore they do not answer questions re: their products!
