Burt Reynolds stars in this touching drama as Eli Zeal, a grocery store owner who is accidentally shot by a ten year-old boy named Thaniel Battle. When his mother, Tyree, sees what her son has done, she panics and takes the wounded Zeal to her hometown of Waterproof, Louisiana. Eli, in no condition to run, must adapt to Tyree's dysfunctional family that includes an alcoholic brother and two parents who obviously have no faith in their daughter.
