Compose en guise de passe-temps durant une grave maladie qui frappa Lipse vers la mi-mars 1603, De Vesta et Vestalibus conclut pour ainsi dire la Fax Historica , une serie sur la culture antique, entamee longtemps auparavant, mais n'ayant pas evolue comme l'auteur s'etait propose. Dans ce bref traite Lipse expose les principaux aspects du culte de Vesta, tels l'origine de la deesse, son temple, la prise des vestales, leur formation et leurs taches, leurs recompenses et peines, leur parure, le Palladium, la fin du culte et les cultes du feu dans d'autres cultures. La methode de redaction lipsienne consiste a rassembler des citations pertinentes de la litterature greco-latine et a les relier ensuite entre elles par des eclaircissements personnels. A ce materiel litteraire sont ajoutees des la seconde edition de 1609 des sources archeologiques, epigraphiques et numismatiques, reproduites egalement dans la presente edition. Lipse se vanta dans l' Ad Lectorem d'etre le premier a avoir traite le sujet de maniere exhaustive et systematique.

The only other time they've delivered I know they didn't even bother trying & I had to go out to pick up from their agent. But this time they left it safely by the front door - so pleased. Thanks for an excellent interaction.
