Synopsis
The US National Parks have been called 'America's Best Idea'. They also provide a beautiful and accessible set of examples around which to structure an introductory geology course, motivating students' curiosity about the science that explains the dramatic landscapes of our nation's unique protected lands. This book introduces core geologic concepts such as volcanism, mountain building, deep time, tectonics, sedimentation and glaciation using our beloved Parks as touchstones. Each chapter builds a broader narrative of how the country's geologic foundations were constructed through time, demonstrating the broader connections between national parks rather than viewing them as isolated entities., An illustration-rich, easy-to-read book on the geology of national parks aimed at the typical science-averse college student taking a general education course. The national parks are used as touchstones to develop the story of the origin and evolution of the American West, the Appalachian Mountains, and the North American continent. Basic geologic concepts are introduced including volcanism, mountain building, deep time, tectonics, sedimentation, and glaciation as they become relevant within the context of specific parks., The US National Parks have been called "America's Best Idea." Purchased 5 car Madison rail car set at auction. Received package well wrapped and in original box. Cars themselves are in excellent condition and mostly as described, although I believe they have seen some track time. That being said, seller offers returns so I'm confident seller was told these cars were new by whomever he got them from. The purchase price was excellent so when averaged with a higher than normal shipping fee it turned out to be an overall good deal.

The magazine arrived in the mail quickly with tracking by USPS. The item was shipped in corregated cardboard surrounded by cardboard protected by a plastic sleeve. The item was as described. An excellent value for a vintage item.
