Reviews
Doreen CarvajalThe New York TimesThrough sheer serendipity and the determined detective work of a Southern historian, the voluminous collection was pieced together, along with the puzzle of Sneden's life and obsessions. Experts say his oeuvre has no equal in Civil War art., Ken RingleThe Washington PostEye of the Stormis the fruit of a scholarly detective hunt almost as intriguing as the narrative it details. What distinguishes Storm the most from the hundreds of other Civil War books are Sneden's uniquely informed foxhole view, his graphic, unsentimental narrative, and the compelling watercolors with which he illustrates his tale., Michael LarkinThe Boston GlobePuts the modern reader in the heart of the war. It is astonishing that such valuable experience could have remained hidden for so long.

Synopsis
Eye of the Stormis one of the most important Civil War documents ever published. Four tattered scrapbooks found in a Connecticut bank vault in 1994 have yielded a treasure trove of more than five hundred watercolors and maps that vividly depict America's great national conflict. These scrapbooks, and the accompanying memoir, are the life's work of a long-forgotten Union private and mapmaker named Robert Knox Sneden, who witnessed some of the war's greatest campaigns and spent more than a year in Southern prison camps, including Andersonville.A must-have for anyone interested in the subject, Robert Knox Sneden'sEye of the Stormis a permanent addition to Civil War literature and art, and a lasting achievement in human expression of the horrors of war.

- e***- (122)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoUnfortunately I received a damaged book, the item and the package both were damaged and it was clearly evident its appearance that it happened during transit. The seller was very understanding and gave me a full refund for the damaged book, though it was no fault of their own. Other than the damage, the book was as described, the quality and condition aside from the damaged spot was like new. The cost of the book was reasonable. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.
- v***v (2101)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoAlthough this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate. How to chalk talk, by Harlan Tarbell (N° 197064259889)

The item arrived exactly as described and was well-packaged to ensure its safety during transit. The seller was courteous and responsive, making the entire transaction smooth and hassle-free.
