Reviews
"...this manual provides succinct and thorough treatment overviews and plans for some of the most frequently encountered disorders. The layout of each chapter, as well as the included sample treatment plans and patient forms, greatly facilitates the implementation of treatment within a busy practice. The content, balanced between theoretical and practical, provides sufficient understanding of the rationale underlying the approach while simultaneously allowing for rapid implementation of treatment. This manual will undoubtedly prove to be of immense value to both experienced and novice clinicians alike."--Clinical Psychology Review "I was pleasantly surprised to find that although these authors are reiterating some familiar ideas, their approach is quite unique. This text provides exactly what it suggests--a reference for clinicians about methods and practical interventions for a number of psychological disorders including depression, panic disorder, GAD, social phobia, PTSD, specific phobia, and OCD....I think the real success of the book is in its organization; rather than describing techniques directly in the text, these are included in a number of charts and user-friendly tables for quick reference. Best of all, in my opinion, is the CD-ROM included at the back of the manual, which comprises the book's material in Adobe-Reader format. In fact, the CD also contains some additional material including, for example, a lengthy list of medications, their uses, and their side-effects. The CD also contains all of the helpful forms and handouts provided in the book (included short pamphlets on each disorder that provide basic information for the patient). I think this manual provides an excellent reference guide for any graduate student or therapist considering using CBT in a short-term treatment plan."--Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy "The authors present, in a compact 300 pages or so, a variety of forms, outlines of treatment procedures, handouts for clients and their families and a solid review of research on state-of-the-art cognitive-behavioral treatment of a wide range of anxiety and depressive conditions. Clearly written with case examples, the book presents empirically validated treatment protocols for short-term therapies. Pragmatic to the maximum....This book will be welcome in agencies and clinics where it will likely raise the standards for treatment. It should see widespread use in graduate and post graduate training programs. It will also serve psychologists well as a refresher course of systematic home training in brief cognitive-behavioral techniques. The experienced clinician will recognize that within these pages is a wealth of resources just waiting to be adapted to the private practice environment." --Announcer, "Treatment Plans and Interventions for Depression and Anxiety Disordersprovides clinicians with essential guidelines to treat patients in the era of managed care. Seven psychiatric disorders are described and conceptualized in cognitive-behavioral terms. The authors then provided an unusually clear, reader-friendly description of how to assess and treat each disorder with illustrative case examples, and patient forms and handouts. It should prove very useful for clinicians or clinicians-in-training who want to learn how to conduct short-term treatment through an empirically validated approach." --Judith S. Beck, PhD, Director, Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research "This pragmatic handbook presents the nitty-gritty details of empirically supported cognitive-behavioral conceptualizations and interventions for clients with depression and anxiety. It will be particularly useful to clinicians functioning in the managed care environment. The authors are obviously astute and experienced therapists. Clinicians who read this book and follow its methods can feel confident they are providing top-quality care." --Jacqueline B. Persons, PhD, Director, San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy, Oakland, California "This book is a landmark contribution to the growing literature on cognitive therapy for mental disorders. It is reader-friendly and deals with complex issues in a clear, understandable fashion. It is just the answer for clinicians working in managed care settings as well as in private practice." --Aaron T. - v***v (2076)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoAlthough this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate.
