The Voigtlander Nokton is an ideal multipurpose camera lens. This manual-focus full-frame lens has the ability to perform well in a variety of settings, from outdoor daylight to low-light situations. The latter setting makes it well suited to the adventurous photographer looking to experiment with night photos or with photography in dark settings.The Nokton 40mm f/1.4 rangefinder with manual focus is known for its lightweight, compact design as well as its delightfully fast shutter speeds. Its fixed/prime maximum focal length is 40mm. Its highly responsive aperture has a perfectly circular minimum of f/16 and a maximum of f/1.4 with half-stop clicks. The Nokton 40mm f/1.4 lenses have a semi-wide 56-degree diagonal angle of view and minimum focal distance of 2.3 feet. They are thus well suited for portraits and capturing closer images of subjects with clarity and sharpness of focus. The higher f-stops allow for image sharpness even to the corners of your photos. This product is also known for producing low levels of image distortion.The intricately designed internal mechanisms of the 40mm Nokton are comprised of six groups of seven optical elements. All glass elements within the lenses are multi-coated both to protect the elements and to improve light transmission. This reduces flare, reflections, and ghosting. The 10 straight blades of the aperture allow photographers to experiment with a range of out-of-focus highlights, including bokeh effects at f/2. The lens is suitable for capturing subtle tones as well as images in black and white.This device was originally designed for use with Voigtlander and Leica digital cameras, such as the Leica CL and the Voit Cosina Bessa. Without a mount adapter, it is compatible with the Leica M-mount system. Adapters are available to fit this item to other camera bodies. For example, a Leica M to Sony E mount adapter will allow this lens to be fitted to the Sony A series camera line. Alternatively, M-mount to F-mount adapters can be used for certain digital SLRs. These lenses are known to adjust well to digital setups with little vignetting or shadowing in the corners. This product accepts standard-size 43mm photo filters and a bayonet mounted soft or metal hood.Weighing only 6.2 ounces and measuring 4.7 inches by 4.2 inches by 3.2 inches, this Nokton with a 40mm field of view is light enough to carry on all of your adventures.
