Die deutsche Version von Modern Warfare 2 enthält jeden einzelnen Level der US-Version in ungekürzter Fassung, in allen drei Spielmodi - Einzelspieler, Mehrspieler und dem neuen Modus "Special-Ops". Der Mehrspieler-Modus von Modern Warfare 2 ist international kompatibel und identisch in Sachen Punktesystem, inklusive Abschussserien, Trefferanzeige auf dem Bildschirm und allen anderen Spieler- Auszeichnungen. Er ermöglicht dadurch weltweite Spielersuche und Leistungsvergleiche zwischen Spielern auf internationaler Ebene. Sämtliche fortschrittlichen Waffen werden auch in der deutschen Version einsetzbar sein, von kleinen Handfeuerwaffen bis hin zu schwer bewaffneten Flugzeugen. "Die deutschen Spieler haben mit der deutschen Version Zugriff auf das komplette Waffenarsenal. Darüber hinaus sind auch alle Trefferanimationen in der deutschen Version enthalten und liefern einen vollständigen, ungeschnittenen Eindruck des Kampfgeschehens. Das ist alles andere als Standard in deutschen Versionen von Action-Spielen.
