Although refined forms of candlewicking are often produced these days, it is possible to recreate the character and feel of traditional candlewicking using modern materials that replicate the textures of the original materials used by American pioneer women - cotton wicking for candles, and wagon-canopy patching. This book provides advice on the types of fabrics that achieve the most effective results, and on the range of threads that are suitable. Instructions are given for the stitches used. Among the projects in the book are designs for a lined embroidery basket, a candlewick bear, two heirloom quilts, a tea cosy and two cushions. Additional patterns are provided for use in projects. Comprehensive instructions, step-by-step diagrams and colour photographs clarify this simple but elegant craft., A practical guide to candlewicking embroidery. Provides information on threads and fabrics and has instructions for nine projects. The author was craft editor of 'Family Circle' and her other craft books include 'The Tonia Todman Collection'.
